Black Desert Reveals Major Updates at Heidel Ball 2025, Including New Class and Region

Published:

Pearl Abyss has shared its vision for the future of Black Desert Online at the Heidel Ball 2025, an annual event that brings together the game’s global community. This year’s announcements covered sweeping changes and additions, including a new class, a fresh continent to explore, and a slew of quality-of-life improvements designed to make the game more approachable for both new and veteran players.

Since its original launch in 2015, Black Desert Online has become known for its action-oriented combat, deep life skills, and vast open world. The MMORPG continues to receive regular expansions and overhauls, and this year’s Heidel Ball signals Pearl Abyss’ ongoing commitment to expanding the game’s systems and content.

Here’s a rundown of the major updates and features announced for Black Desert:

  • New Class: Wukong – Inspired by the legendary Monkey King from Journey to the West, Wukong joins the roster as a fast-paced melee fighter. Players can access Wukong early via the Global Lab starting June 28. His unique skills include summoning clones and using an extendable pole for area attacks, as well as riding the iconic Flying Nimbus for mobility.
  • New Region: Edania – The long-teased northern continent, Edania, arrives with five new castles, unique monster species, and a range of new artifacts, crystals, and alchemy recipes. Edania introduces new stat mechanics like “Extra Damage to Edanian Monsters.”
  • Revamped New Player Experience – Olvia Town is being converted into “Olvia School,” a dedicated training zone for newcomers that offers progressive rewards and a social, semester-style environment. New players will also receive a significant silver allowance as they advance through early quests.
  • UI and QoL Improvements – Pearl Abyss is rolling out changes such as:
    • Buff status tracking for all 33 types
    • A dedicated Enhancement Inventory for materials
    • Improved Enhancement UI for more clarity
    • All-in-One Presets for easy build switching
    • World Map and Event Page overhauls for better navigation
    • Adventure Log reworks that consolidate stat rewards and shift some to cosmetics
  • Sovereign Sub-Weapon – A new sub-weapon, combining the stats of current boss weapons Kutum and Nouver, will be available with multiple crafting options and upgrade paths.
  • Mythical Horse Prototype – Pearl Abyss previewed a new mount that blends the abilities of all three current mythical horses (Doom, Arduanatt, Diné). Its final design and name will be determined with community input.
  • PvP System Overhaul – Significant changes are coming to PvP, including:
    • Standardized accuracy, evasion, and damage formulas
    • Super Armor damage reduction changes
    • Revised extra damage stats for PvE and PvP
    • Unified summon mechanics with main character stats
    • Complete removal of resistances in PvP
    • Disabling mouse movement for improved stability
    • Reorganized class damage modifiers to balance performance
  • Master Class Tournament – A new global 1v1 PvP tournament will take place this fall, with players competing for the title of strongest in each of the game’s 30 classes (including Wukong). Winners receive exclusive mounts, titles, and on-stage recognition at the next live event.
  • New Outfits and Event Rewards – Two seasonal outfits and a suite of in-game rewards—including Cron Stones, J’s Hammers, item exchange coupons, and rare enhancement items—are being distributed as part of the Heidel Ball festivities.
