Donkey Crew Drops New Bellwright Trailer As Last Oasis Marks Fourth Year In Early Access

Published:

Last year, Donkey Crew and Snail games announced a medieval co-op survival game called Bellwright, even as their other survival game, Last Oasis, continued to languish in early access. They’re now offering another glimpse into Bellwright’s medieval world with a new gameplay teaser trailer.

The team also ran a 72-hour playtest last week that allowed a small group of players to take Bellwright’s co-op gameplay systems for a test drive. It also allowed the developers to gather much-needed feedback and data to help them put the final touches on the game ahead of its launch, which they promise will be happening soon.

Meanwhile, Last Oasis still appears to be stuck in development limbo four years after its early access launch on Steam. Long-time readers will probably remember it as the nomadic-styled woodpunk survival MMO that forced players to travel across a post-apocalyptic desert world aboard massive wooden Walkers to stay ahead of the scorching sunlight.

The game launched into early access in March 2020 to disappointing reviews. Funnily enough, even the game’s creative director admitted that it sucked, his words exactly. Donkey Crew later released the massive LOverhaul update which drastically changed how the game was played by removing its distinctive scorch mechanic, which was honestly one of the things that it had going for it. That was back in July 2022, three months before the updates stopped coming.

Whether Bellwright will meet the same fate remains to be seen. In the meantime, you can check out the new teaser trailer below.
