Dungeon Fighter Online Launches Season 9 Act 1: The Sunken Depths Update

Nexon has released Dungeon Fighter Online’s Season 9 Act 1: The Sunken Depths, introducing a level cap increase (to 115), revamped progression systems, and new dungeons. The update continues the game’s 2D beat-’em-up MMO action with fresh challenges and lore set in the fantasy world of Arad.

While Dungeon Fighter Online isn’t a big success in the West, the game is enormously popular in China. The game has earned over $22 billion since its release in 2005.

Season 9 Act 1 Key Features:

  • Level Cap Expansion: Increased to Level 115, with new equipment and progression systems.
  • New Lore: Players confront the Vanitas and Delezie while exploring the Fount of Tribulation, traversing areas like the Shimmering Archipelago, Azure Main, and Moon-Submerged Lake.
  • Apostle Storylines: Ties to past and future narratives, focusing on the vengeful Apostle Delezie.

Equipment & Progression Overhauls

  • Set Point System:
    • Lv. 115 Gear: Returns to classic rarity tiers, with higher rarity granting more Set Points.
    • Accumulate Set Points to unlock bonuses, Fame boosts, and special effects.
  • Tuning & Promotion Systems:
    • Tuning: Enhances gear within its rarity to boost Set Points.
    • Promotion: Upgrades gear rarity to reduce reliance on RNG for endgame builds.

New Dungeons

  • Hell Party: Disciple of Doom:
    • Requires Doom Oracles (earned or purchased).
    • Features Expected Reward Ratio (ERR) for balanced loot distribution.
    • Quality-of-life additions: Auto-reentry, buff retention, and lucky bonuses.
  • Abyss: Disciple of Doom:
    • Targeted farming with guaranteed Legendary drops per run.
    • Entry via Abyssal Doom Oracles from the standard Hell Party dungeon.
  • Advanced Dungeons:
    • Moon-Submerged Lake, Azure Main, Temple of Death (weekly challenges).
    • Two clears per week, scaling rewards based on Fame level.
  • Normal Dungeons:
    • Six new dungeons with Legendary gear and Gaze of the Maleficents system.
    • Daily bonus rewards for two selected dungeons, plus damage boosts for under-geared characters.
  • Gold Dungeons:
    • Track Malefic Energy: Farm Malefic Residue (alternative to Gold) with unlimited access.
    • Annihilate the Maleficents: High Gold rewards using Materialized Malefic Clue tickets (found in secret shops).
