Fellowship, the co-op dungeon crawler from indie studio Chief Rebel, is gearing up for another round of testing later this month. Known for zeroing in on the classic MMO dungeon grind minus the sprawling open world, Fellowship challenges small teams of players to conquer increasingly tough instanced dungeons and collect loot, using modifiers to ramp up the difficulty.
After its February open beta, the developers spent time poring over community feedback, analyzing gameplay data, and outlining plans to address the issues raised. An exact date for the upcoming closed beta hasn’t been announced yet, but Chief Rebel says it’s due toward the end of May and is promising to show off a batch of new features soon.
Key updates and changes the team is working on include:
- Reducing sudden random one-shot critical hits at higher difficulty levels
- Addressing dungeon curse mechanics that could cause unavoidable damage, especially when combined with boss abilities
- Overhauling the progression system and improving overall loot RNG, so basic gear drops feel more rewarding
- Adding weapon and legendary armor drops to the loot pool
- Introducing new talents and emotes, letting players further customize their experience
- Expanding HUD customization: options now allow resizing, stacking adjustments, hiding DPS meters, viewing cooldown timers, and sharing layouts with others
Fellowship has cultivated a small but vocal player base interested in its less-is-more co-op focus, and these updates show that the studio is listening closely. As the next closed beta approaches, Chief Rebel seems keen to keep the conversation going and let players see for themselves how the game is evolving.
