Genshin Impact‘s first major update of 2024 is set to launch on January 31st. Version 4.4, titled “Vibrant Harriers Aloft in Spring Breeze”, adds a new Liyue area, Chenyu Vale as well as a whole host of other new features including:
- Liyue expands northwest to “Chenyu Vale”, a vast mist-shrouded area connecting to Fontaine
- Lantern Rite Festival event and mini games with a free new Xingqiu outfit to redeem
- Two new playable characters: 5-star Anemo catalyst wielder Xianyun, and 4-star Pyro claymore user Gaming
- Free-to-claim rewards including 10+3 Intertwined Fates, 2 Fragile Resins
- Shenhe and Ganyu’s new outfits available at a limited-time discount
This update promises to whisk players away to the mesmerizing Chenyu Vale, a new area in the beloved Liyue region, ripe for exploration and adventure.
As the in-game world celebrates the Lantern Rite festival, players can expect a whirlwind of activities and rewards. The festival, themed around kites this year, is not just about visual splendor; it’s packed with opportunities to collect Intertwined Fates and a free four-star character from Liyue. For fashion enthusiasts, there’s also a chic new outfit for Xingqiu.
The character roster is expanding too. Xianyun, a five-star Anemo catalyst user with adeptus roots, brings an aerial edge to the gameplay, offering unique mobility and support skills. Joining him is Gaming, a four-star Pyro warrior whose combat style is a dance of flames and Wushou martial arts. The update also brings back fan favorites like Xiao and Yae Miko in a special event wish rerun.
Chenyu Vale is more than just a backdrop; it’s a land of mystery and legend. Players can delve into new adventures, transforming into a magical carp to glide through the skies or take on the formidable “Solitary Suanni” in a thrilling boss battle.
HoYoverse hasn’t just focused on content; they’ve also upped the game’s visual appeal. Innovative features like Global Far Fog and Gradient Tint Rock are set to enhance the environmental realism, making Chenyu Vale a breathtaking addition to the Genshin Impact universe.
Genshin Impact remains one of the world’s most successful mobile games, especially in Asia (namely Japan, South Korea, and China). It’s also one of the only gacha games in the U.S. that has gained any real traction. While the game was designed for mobile, it does have a PC client and that game looks and feels great on a PC.
