The mobile version of the PC MMORPG Mabinogi titled “Mabinogi Mobile” launched in South Korea today. As with the PC version, Mabinogi Mobile aims to emphasize a lot of non combat elements like crafting and resource gathering. Nexon describes the game as such:
MABINOGI MOBILE faithfully inherits the emotional experiences and lifestyle contents of MABINOGI, while providing enhanced community features optimized for mobile environments.
Given Mabinogi’s sparse playerbase outside of South Korea, its not a given that the game will launch globally. Still, Nexon has placed an emphasis on growing their revenues in Western markets, so a global release can’t be ruled out. The PC version of Mabinogi averages just 500 players online. While not a lot, it’s impressive given that the game originally launched in South Korea in 2004. It’s over 20 years old now.
