Monsters & Memories, an EverQuest Inspired MMORPG, Completes 2 Day Community Alpha Test

Published:

Monsters & Memories, an upcoming subscription based MMORPG inspired by EverQuest, wrapped up its 2 day community alpha test today. It was available to the public entirely for free. If you missed it, don’t worry, the game will hold more free public tests up until its early access launch in Q1 2026. Additional testing is scheduled for July and August.

I had played the alpha test for a few hours and enjoyed it quite a bit. Anyone looking for an old school EverQuest like MMORPG will have a blast with Monsters & Memories. It looks and plays like an old school MMORPG: slow leveling, no map, confusing quests, and poor UI. This may sound negative, but it creates a charming old school experience that many are clearly looking for. The alpha test was absolutely packed, with the beginner areas completely overcrowded, which made tagging mobs difficult.

While there are many indie MMORPGs in development, I’m optimistic about Monsters & Memories. The community alpha test has shown that the core mechanics are functional and fun.
