Amazon Games has is launching Season of the Divide, the eighth major update for New World: Aeternum, bringing high-stakes PvP, accelerated progression, and brutal new challenges to the MMO. The season launches today, May 13, introducing hardcore seasonal servers, a new ocean-themed Outpost Rush map, and limited-time PvP preview events.
The update is set to go live around 7 AM Pacific Time.

New Seasonal Server: Hardcore (Coming June)
- Permanent death mechanics with exclusive rewards for surviving players
- Streamlined leveling and crafting progression
- Three-tier Journey system with Set 3 rewards locked behind “unfallen” status
PvP Additions
- Coral Divide Map: Permanent Outpost Rush arena with vertical combat and tactical flanking routes
- Capture the Flag: New 10v10 mode with power-ups and jump pads (limited-time test)
- 3v3 Arena Update: Largest arena yet set in an ancient temple grove
- Outpost Rush: Barebones: Gear-equalized version stripping away stat advantages
Expeditions Unleashed
- Weekly rotating open-world boss fights against expedition favorites like Mammoth Mahantaram
- Guaranteed 725 Gear Score drops plus multiple 710+ items per event
Seven New Artifacts
- The Old Crown: +10 all attributes with gem bonuses
- Relentless: Team armor and healing aura shield
- Vampire Vestments: Lifesteal/mana synergy chestpiece
Combat & Quality-of-Life Improvements
- Five new Survival Potion types including Health Shots and Grit Potions
- Target Lock/Aim Assist rebalanced for controller players
- New Jade (disease) and Turquoise (armor penetration) gems
- “Hardcore Parkour” and other new mobility-focused perks
Season Pass Rewards
- Free track: Corruption-themed cosmetics, two artifacts

The update also introduces barbershop customization, PvP camp respawn points, and mutator expedition reward adjustments. Season of the Divide marks New World‘s continued evolution into 2025, blending hardcore challenges with accessible PvP experimentation.
