Not Having The Title Was “Too Conservative” And Sony Now Wants Roblox On The PlayStation

Published:

With the FTC Microsoft hearings lately, and everything to do with the Activision Blizzard purchase in general, we’ve been hearing a lot about exclusives and what games are and are not on what platforms. If you didn’t know already, there is one popular game that is available across multiple platforms, with the exception of Sony’s PlayStation, but the reason probably isn’t what you think.

The popular platform Roblox caters to kids, with approximately half its players under the age of 13 ready to spend lots of Robux in various custom-made games. Apparently, Sony avoided adding Roblox to the PlayStation because they were worried that it might exploit the large number of children playing on the console, a criticism Roblox continues to deal with both on the content creation front and the advertising front, with the latter receiving some changes from the Roblox team recently.

Now, it seems they’ve lightened up on this a bit. In fact, PlayStation head Jim Ryan states that the company has “been conservative for too long” and that they are now “engaging with the people at Roblox”. This is backed up by the fact that a job listing for a PlayStation engineer had been on the Roblox site for a little over a year ago.
