OOF! Even As An Exclusive, Redfall’s Xbox Launch Will Have Limited FPS Performance

Published:

Anyone planning on playing Bethesda’s upcoming FPS Redfall on console may want to hold off on picking up the game – at least if they want to be able to play the game at 60FPS. According to a tweet posted on the Redfall account today, Xbox Series X|S players will be limited to 30 FPS at launch. Specifically, the Series X version of the game will be set at 4K 30 FPS while Series X will be 1440p 30 FPS.

The… good(?)… news is that this won’t be permanent. Bethesda will be adding a 60 FPS performance mode “via a game update at a later date”. Obviously, that means we can’t tell players when to expect the update to drop. Hopefully sooner, rather than later.

Unfortunately for Bethesda, feedback on the tweet isn’t exactly positive. (Although some people do seem okay with the announcement.) Whether it’s enough to put players off of buying the game at launch remains to be seen, but some have pointed out that a similar situation has had a negative impact on other games.
