Pearl Abyss, the studio behind the long-running MMORPG Black Desert Online, will showcase its upcoming open-world action-adventure game Crimson Desert at PAX East (May 8–11, Boston). This marks the first time the highly anticipated title will be playable in North America, offering fans a hands-on preview of its gritty medieval fantasy world.
Unlike Black Desert Online, Crimson Desert is not an MMO. It’s a single-player buy to play game. The game is set to launch late 2025.

About Crimson Desert
Set in the brutal continent of Pywel, the game follows Kliff, leader of the mercenary group Greymanes, as he navigates political strife and supernatural threats. Key features include:
- Vibrant Storytelling: Focus on character-driven narratives and moral ambiguity
- Combat: High-intensity melee and ranged battles against human foes and mythical beasts
- Exploration: Vast open world with dynamic weather and environmental storytelling
As Pearl Abyss’s first major non-MMO project, Crimson Desert represents a strategic shift. Its success could diversify the studio’s portfolio beyond Black Desert’s live-service model.
