PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS has just rolled out Update 35.2, bringing major gameplay enhancements including expanded destructible terrain on the Taego map, new tactical items, and unified gameplay mechanics across multiple maps. This update aligns with KRAFTON’s previously outlined 2025 roadmap, emphasizing strategic depth and gameplay consistency to remain competitive in the ever-popular battle royale scene.
One of the standout additions in Update 35.2 is destructible terrain coming to Taego. Until now, altering the landscape has been limited, but with this update, players can use explosives like grenades, C4, mortars, and the Panzerfaust to reshape the battlefield dynamically. Additionally, a new pickaxe tool lets players quietly dig and modify terrain, significantly enhancing the strategic layer of map control and positioning during matches.
Key Changes in Update 35.2:
- Vehicle Camouflage Netting: Now available on Erangel and Miramar, this new item allows players to better conceal parked vehicles, introducing an additional stealth element to vehicle use.
- Expanded Vending Machines: Previously exclusive to Miramar, these machines have made their way to Erangel and Taego, randomly spawning as either Boost or Medical dispensers. They provide healing and boosts, with a rare chance of a jackpot full of supplies.
- Destructible Loot Pots: Erangel now features destructible pots similar to other maps, letting players smash objects to quickly grab gear.
Gameplay adjustments also aim to balance mechanics and enhance usability:
- C4 Changes: Now a deployable item requiring a four-second setup, making its powerful explosion more strategic rather than a quick-throw solution.
- Inflatable Boat Improvements: These boats now travel faster when fully occupied, and their inventory weight has been reduced, making them more practical for squad-based movement.
- Enhanced Flare Gun Indicators: Clearer tooltips, UI prompts, and radio messages have been added to improve Flare Gun usability and reduce confusion during intense gameplay moments.
While PUBG was the first major game in the battle royale genre, it still manages to effectively compete against heavyweights like Apex Legends, Warzone, and Fortnite.
