Requiem: Desiderium Mortis announced late April that the game officially entered maintenance mode. We didn’t cover the story at first as I didn’t even see the official announcement until someone posted about it on Reddit.
Requiem originally launched back in 2008 by Gravity Interactive (now known as WarpPortal in the West). The game never reached widespread success but somehow managed to survive in a brutally competitive market where countless free to play MMORPGs have shut down.
The game is currently in maintenance mode, meaning that there won’t be any further content updates or special events. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as the game hasn’t had a major update since 2011. Still, the game did routinely run events. Hopefully the game can continue to survive, but maintenance mode is basically a death sentence for a game as the developers have clearly given up on it.
