The First Descendant Releases Season 2 Episode 2 Update ‘Beyond The Void’

The First Descendant’s Season 2 Episode 2 update, Beyond The Void, launched today. It introduces a new story chapter, playable character, and gameplay features. The changes were highlighted in last week’s developer livestream which can be seen here:

New Main Story: Beyond The Void

• Continues the narrative after the destruction of the Ironheart in the Fortress region.
• Reveals Vulgus General Karel’s century-long scheme and introduces a secret weapon.
• Players team up with Serena, an early-generation Descendant, to confront new threats.

New Descendant: Serena (Fire-Element DPS)

• Passive Skill: Divinity – Grants stat bonuses when firing mid-air.
• Sacred Flame – Applies debuffs to enemies or heals allies.
• Ascension – Reduces gravity for extended aerial combat, with effects tied to ammo type.
• Soaring – Enables vertical propulsion and mid-air evasion.
• Redemption – Removes debuffs, grants buffs on ground; enhances firearms mid-air.

New Field: Sigma Sector

• Two matchmaking-supported areas: Broken Boundary and Isolated Desert.
• Normal Difficulty: Comparable to Hard Infiltration Operations (100% difficulty).
• High-Risk Difficulty: Accessible at Mastery Rank 15, akin to 400% Infiltration Operations.
• New enemies include Immortality Obliviant and Karel’s First Descendant.

New Void Abyss Intercept Battle: Tormentor

• Electric-based Colossus vulnerable to poison.
• Activates Void Reflux Mode, summoning a moving Thunderstorm attack.

Arche Tuning System (Progression Update)

• Allows build optimization using EXP earned from high-difficulty missions (e.g., Void Vessel Hard, Sigma Sector).
• Unlocked after completing the Beyond The Void quest.
• Max Unique Arche Factor Level increased to 40.

Other Updates

• New Fellow: Vespers Hunting Dog – Auto-loot, dismantle, and ammo replenishment.
• Hagios Sheepdog Update: Gains automatic health recovery.
• Weapons: Malevolent, Ancient Knight, A-Tams, and Truly Deadly Arson added.
• Customization: Preset saves, eyebrow/beard dye options.
• Photo Mode: Basic features added; filters and stickers coming later.
• Skins: Serena, Hailey, Gley, and Sharen receive new cosmetic options.

Events

• Log-In Event (March 13): Earn Ultimate Bunny or Hailey skins (Albion Academy Cadet, Classic Maid Uniform) over 14 days.
• Daily Event (March 13): Complete missions for Support Tokens, exchangeable for items like Crystallization Catalysts.
• Upcoming: Pre-Ultimate Blair update event for module transfers using Photon Imprinter.
