Things apparently aren’t as bad for The Realm Online as we thought when we last reported on it. Since that time, two things have happened. First, Norseman announced they would be taking over the legacy server Despothes’ Grove and keeping it alive. They even promised account migration. Now, according to a report on Massively OP, they’re selling the game to another company.
The news originated in a post on The Realm Online Facebook page where they simply state that another team has acquired the game. The post does not specify what team that is or what that will mean for players. It does say that Norseman believes the new company “will honor the game’s rich legacy while injecting fresh innovation and exciting adventures”. The post also notes the transition will take time. That makes sense, seeing as they haven’t even stated who the game is transferring to yet.
Whether the game’s fans see this as good news or bad news remains to be seen. It’s at least a bit better than the game shuttering completely, maybe?
