Valhalla, FLOKI’s Play to Earn Browser MMORPG, Launches on Mainnet

Published:

Valhalla, the browser-based ‘play to earn’ MMORPG from FLOKI, officially launched on mainnet on June 30, 2025. This marks FLOKI’s first major foray into blockchain gaming, following over three years of development and a significant investment from its treasury. The game aims to bring Web3 mechanics to a wider audience by combining play-to-earn systems with accessible browser gameplay.

Valhalla, as the name suggests, draws inspiration from Norse mythology and puts players in a world where they can discover, tame, and battle with creatures called Veras. Valhalla blends elements of tactical turn-based combat, a player-driven economy, and open-world exploration, all integrated with blockchain features. Time will tell if there’s any substance here, as previous Play2Earn games have were light on gameplay and heavy on blockchain.

Key features and updates include:

  • Browser-based MMORPG gameplay built around Norse mythology
  • Players can discover, tame, and battle creatures known as Veras
  • Turn-based tactical combat on a hexagonal battlefield
  • Player-driven in-game economy with play-to-earn elements
  • Integration of NFT-based characters and assets
  • Recent testnet patch (v0.35.0) added new Veras, strategic amulets, and the Vera Essence resource

The game is part of the broader FLOKI ecosystem, which includes products like Floki Staking, a trading bot, and the TokenFi platform. FLOKI claims over half a million global holders, and its expansion into gaming is part of a larger push to diversify its offerings in the crypto space.

As blockchain games continue to evolve, Valhalla’s approach to integrating player ownership, a real economy, and traditional MMORPG features may offer a glimpse into the next phase of Web3 gaming. Developed by FLOKI, the project is positioning itself as a significant new entry in the still-nascent blockchain MMORPG genre.
