Zenless Zone Zero’s 2.1 Update Brings New Regions, Agents, and Summer Activities

Published:

Zenless Zone Zero, HoYoverse’s urban fantasy action RPG, is set to roll out its Version 2.1 update, “The Impending Crash of Waves,” on July 16. This update arrives just weeks after the game’s initial launch and marks the start of Season 2 Chapter 2, bringing a summer-themed expansion with new story content, playable characters, and a fresh set of events. The update continues HoYoverse’s trend of frequent post-launch support, similar to what Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail players have come to expect.

Version 2.1 introduces two new areas – Sailume Bay and Fantasy Resort which expand the game’s explorable world beyond the city’s usual urban sprawl. Alongside these new locations, players (referred to in-game as Proxies) will encounter new storylines involving the Spook Shack faction and help restore a run-down resort, adding variety to the game’s otherwise combat-focused content.

  • New Regions: Sailume Bay, located beneath Failume Heights, becomes the central setting for the new chapter’s narrative, while Fantasy Resort offers a seasonal, beachside hub with mini-games and summer events.
  • New Playable Agents: Two S-Rank agents from Spook Shack join the roster. Ukinami Yuzuha specializes in physical support and debuffs using her tanuki companion, while Alice Thymefield is a sword-wielding anomaly agent with mechanics centered around “Blade Etiquette.”
  • Additional Bangboo: Miss Esme, an S-Rank Bangboo, supports with energy and HP regeneration. Previous agents Miyabi (Frost Anomaly) and Yanagi (Electric Anomaly) return for limited-time banner reruns.
  • Summer Activities: Players can participate in surfing, yacht-based shooting challenges, and new fishing spots, all designed to offer more relaxed, event-driven gameplay compared to the main story’s action sequences.
  • New Outfits: Summer-themed costumes will be available for select agents and protagonists, fitting the seasonal vibe of the update.
  • Bangboo Auto Battler Event: The “En-Nah” Chess Legend introduces a PvP mode for Bangboo battles, expanding on the auto-battler mechanics introduced at launch.
  • Simulated Battle Trial Update: The combat trial receives a refreshed scoring system to better reward technical skill and strategy.
